Site Tip · Getting found on Google

One page per service

If you offer five services, how many pages should your website have for them? Many owners answer "one" because it feels simpler. For getting found on Google, though, the better answer is five.

Why one big page falls short

Imagine a drawer where you throw in every tool you own. You could find a hammer eventually, but it would take a while. A single page that covers water heaters, drain cleaning, leak repair and more works the same way.

Google tries to match each search to the page that fits best. When everything is crammed together, the page is a little about everything and not clearly about anything. A page that focuses on one service gives Google, and your customer, a clear answer.

What a good service page includes

Each service page does not have to be long. It just needs to be specific and useful.

  • A clear title that names the service and, if it fits, your area
  • A few paragraphs on what the service is, who needs it, and what to expect
  • Real photos of your own work where you can
  • Answers to common questions customers ask you on the phone
  • One clear button, such as call or request a quote

How to set it up

Start by writing down every service you want customers to find. Then give each one its own page, with its own web address that uses plain words, like yoursite.com/drain-cleaning. Add links to these pages from your menu or a main services page so visitors can reach them easily.

Write the way you would explain it to a customer standing in front of you. Avoid copying the same paragraph onto every page, because each page should say something different about its service. If two services are nearly identical, it is fine to keep them together.

Common mistakes

Do not create dozens of thin pages with only a sentence or two. A few well-made pages beat many empty ones. Each page should earn its place by helping a real customer decide. Also avoid vague titles like "Services" or "Our work." Finally, remember that no page structure guarantees rankings. It simply gives you more chances to be found by the right people.

Questions owners ask

What if I only have a couple of services?

Then two pages is fine. The goal is one clear topic per page, not a certain number of pages.

Should I mention my city on each page?

If the service is local, yes, where it feels natural. Mention your service area in plain words rather than repeating it over and over.

Can I add service pages myself?

Most website builders make this simple. Copy your page layout, change the title, text and photos, and publish. If you get stuck, ask your web person.
